mix 'em & match 'em: gingham

Often times prints are seen as a woman's closet staple with florals, polk-a-dots and other female motifs.  This Print Guide is a more gender neutral mix that is primarily inspired by men's wear collections.  In recent years mixing a printed dress shirts with a different printed tie.  One thing is certain, this classic Gingham print isn't in Kansas anymore.

These prints were make in Adobe Illustrator by me, Sarah Katherine Ormsby.

1. Gingham provides a fantastic foundation for stripe and color variations.  In this case the uneven stripes are in a great contrast of the uniformed Gingham.
2. A pairing of Gingham and Plaid makes for an exciting combination.  The eye wants to categorize these two in the same print family but the complexities provided by the Plaid can be a subtle but unique look.  For more contrast play with opposite color palettes.

A general note regarding color is that you can be a little adventurous and play up complementary colors rather than just shades of the Ginghams' check print.
